More Than
a Garden

Gina DeMarco is a writer, designer, and longtime advertising professional whose creative career has spanned more than three decades. Before turning to fiction, she spent fifteen years working in print advertising and design and another fifteen in digital advertising and technology. Experience that shaped both her visual approach to storytelling and her fascination with the ways people, culture, and history intersect.

Her debut novel, The Botanist, is a historical fantasy romance set against the landscape of Spanish colonial Texas near El Paso del Norte. The story follows Lucia de la Rosa, a gifted young botanist whose knowledge of plants and healing places her in increasing danger as suspicion, faith, romance, and the supernatural begin to converge around her.

Gina is drawn to stories about women whose lives might otherwise have disappeared between the pages of recorded history. Her fiction blends historical settings with romance, mystery, folklore, and the fantastic, while keeping its characters and the very human choices they make, at the center of the story.

The Botanist is the first novel in her planned Green Witch series.

Away from writing, Gina remains deeply connected to visual design, gardening, history, music, and the creative process in all its forms. She approaches her novels much as she has approached design throughout her career: by building a world from the smallest details outward, until atmosphere, character, and story become inseparable.

She lives in San Luis Obispo, California with her husband and is currently completing The Botanist while developing the next stories in the series.
